How we use AI

Where artificial intelligence helps us make Fortumania, and what people do.

Version of 17 October 2026.

Fortumania is made by a small studio, Sparrow Soul, and it is made with the help of artificial intelligence. We think the honest thing is to say so plainly: what AI helps us with, and what stays with us.

Not a single prompt

Fortumania did not come out of a single prompt to a neural network. For us AI is a working tool that speeds development up, the way a code editor or a drawing tablet does. We come up with the game's idea, its rules, its economy, its characters and its stories, and we set every task ourselves: we describe what needs doing, break the work into steps and check what came out.

We don't accept everything AI makes as it is. We read and check every result, ask for another go at what didn't work, refine what did, and throw out what doesn't fit. Much of what AI makes never reaches the game.

Code

Fortumania's code, for the website, the apps, the games and the servers, is written with the help of AI. We read every change as a pull request, automated tests check it, and it joins the project only when we decide it should.

Art

Items, backgrounds and characters are drawn by AI. We describe every picture ourselves: what is in it, in what style and in what light. We pose the characters in an editor of our own, and the model draws each one from that pose. We look through every finished picture and have the ones that didn't work drawn again.

Music and sound

The music and the sound effects are made by AI. We describe every track and every sound ourselves, listen to what came out and decide what goes into the game.

Stories and texts

We write the stories, the item descriptions and the game's other texts with the help of AI: it helps with the drafts, while the plot, the characters and the final text are ours to decide. We reread and edit every text before it appears in the game.

AI inside the game

Inside Fortumania, AI does one job: it checks the names players choose for unacceptable content. A name is first matched against a list of banned names we keep, and then checked by AI. The Privacy Policy has more on this.

Who is responsible

We are responsible for everything in Fortumania, whatever tool helped make it. If you notice a mistake, an inaccuracy or something out of place, write to us: Contact us says how.

If AI starts helping us with anything else, we will update this page.
